Sterling Wells Nepal is the operational hub of a UK-based group of chartered certified accountancy firms and fintech companies, including UK Property Accountants, Sterling & Wells, Crane & Partners, FigsFlow, RentalBux, Taxule, and PropertySPV. We support thousands of clients across 50+ countries and oversee accounting for $8B+ in assets.
We are growing our client delivery team and looking for an ACCA Member with solid, hands-on experience in UK-based accounting and tax practice. This is not a back-office processing role — you will own a client portfolio, deliver across the full spectrum of financial and tax work, and operate as a trusted adviser to clients from day one.
What You’ll Own
- Financial Statements Preparation: Prepare statutory and non-statutory financial statements in compliance with UK accounting standards — FRS 102 and FRS 105 — for limited companies, LLPs, sole traders, and partnerships across a range of sectors.
- Management Accounts: Produce periodic management accounts including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements, delivering timely financial insight that helps clients understand performance and make confident business decisions.
- UK Tax Compliance: Own end-to-end UK tax compliance for clients: corporation tax returns (CT600), self-assessment (SA100 and related supplementary pages), VAT returns, and confirmation statements — prepared accurately and filed on time with HMRC.
- Tax Advisory: Go beyond compliance — proactively identify tax planning opportunities, advise on structuring, dividend versus salary decisions, capital allowances, property tax considerations, and other areas relevant to the client’s position and objectives.
- Financial Advisory: Provide clients with financial analysis, budgeting support, forecasting, and business performance insight. Translate accounting data into clear, actionable recommendations that drive real business value.
- Bookkeeping & Accounts Preparation: Oversee and where necessary perform bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and accounts preparation using cloud accounting platforms, ensuring the data underpinning all deliverables is clean, accurate, and up to date.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of UK-based clients — managing communications, building trust, and ensuring clients always feel informed, supported, and well-served.
- Junior Staff Coordination: Assign, review, and sign off on work performed by junior team members, maintaining consistently high standards of quality and professional accuracy across all client deliverables.
- On-the-Job Coaching: Share UK practice knowledge and technical expertise with junior colleagues through day-to-day guidance, review feedback, and informal mentoring.
- Compliance & Risk: Ensure all engagements meet applicable regulatory requirements, firm quality standards, and HMRC expectations — proactively flagging risks or anomalies to the manager.
- Business Development: Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within the existing client base; communicate the value of additional services naturally and professionally during client interactions.
- Meetings & Reporting: Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly team meetings; provide clear, structured updates on portfolio status, deadlines, and open items to managers and the wider team.
What We Need
- ACCA Member (full membership required) with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience gained in a UK-based accounting or tax practice.
- Demonstrable, hands-on experience with UK client work — corporation tax, self-assessment, VAT, and statutory accounts preparation are core requirements, not optional exposure.
- Strong working knowledge of UK accounting standards: FRS 102 and FRS 105, with practical experience applying them to client engagements.
- Solid understanding of UK tax legislation and HMRC compliance processes — you know how HMRC thinks, and you know how to keep clients on the right side of it.
- Ability to prepare financial statements and management accounts to a high standard, with minimal supervision.
- Sound tax and financial advisory capability — able to identify opportunities, frame recommendations, and communicate them clearly to non-technical clients.
- Proficient in cloud accounting software: Xero, QuickBooks, VT, or similar — this is day-to-day tooling, not a nice-to-have.
- Excellent written and spoken English — capable of corresponding professionally with UK clients, advisers, and HMRC directly.
- Strong analytical thinking, sharp attention to detail, and the composure to manage competing deadlines without compromising quality.
Nice to Have
- Experience working within a UK-facing offshore delivery model — understanding the rhythm, expectations, and communication standards of a UK practice operating across time zones.
- Exposure to property taxation — SDLT, CGT on property disposals, ATED, or non-resident landlord scheme — given the group’s property accounting focus.
- Familiarity with IFRS and its application in financial reporting alongside UK GAAP.
- Background in a Big 4, mid-tier, or specialist UK-facing firm before transitioning to industry or offshore practice.
- Experience advising owner-managed businesses, contractors, or property investors — the core client profiles across the group.
- Comfort using AI-powered tools to enhance the quality and efficiency of client work, reporting, and correspondence.
What Makes This Role Different
- Your UK experience is not just welcomed here — it is the foundation the role is built on. You will use it every day, across real client work, not internal processing.
- You will work within a group that specialises in UK accounting and tax, giving you depth of domain exposure that generalist firms cannot offer.
- The breadth of responsibilities — financials, management accounts, tax compliance, tax planning, and advisory — means your skills stay sharp and continue to develop.
- You will be part of an internationally connected team supporting clients across 50+ countries, with access to senior professionals and a structured growth path.
- Clear progression toward Senior Client Manager and Manager-level roles as the group scales across the UK, Nepal, India, and the US.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary package based on experience and qualification.
- International working environment with exposure to UK-based clients and engagements across 50+ countries.
- Access to Sterling Wells Academy and structured development programmes.
- At least one month of total working time dedicated to training and development annually.
- Clear growth trajectory toward Senior Client Manager and Manager roles as the group scales.
- Five-day working week, with Saturday and Sunday off.
- Daily office lunch, paid annual leave, and sick leave.
- Accident and medical insurance coverage.
- Regular team-building activities and cultural events.
If you are an ACCA Member with UK practice experience who wants to own a client portfolio, deliver high-quality financial and advisory work, and grow within an internationally connected group — this role was built for you.
